Vágar Airport is the only airport in the Faroe Islands. Faroese national airline Atlantic Airways fly’s direct to Bergen, Billund, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Reykjavík-City, Aalborg, Barcelona, Chambéry, Chania, Gran Canaria, Lisbon & Palma de Mallorca. You can also fly with SAS direct from Copenhagen. If you are travelling from the UK, you should either fly from London to Vágar Airport via Copenhagen or from Edinburgh direct.

Smyril Line operates an all year cruise and car ferry service by the big car ferry, Norrøna, with regular sailings to the Faroe Islands from Denmark (Hirtshals) and Seyðisfjörður on the east coast of Iceland into Torshavn.

We would recommend hiring a car to explore the islands. Plus it can be useful to have access to a vehicle as some of the adventure activities are a driving distance from Tórshavn. Have a look at our partner Visit Faroe Islands page here for hiring a car. When driving around the Faroe Islands, please consider the local rules around driving. You can read a full Guide to Driving in the Faroe Islands here.

It's a 40 minutes drive from the Airport to Tórshavn. There are several bus-routes to and from the Airport and taxis can be prebooked and hired.

The cheapest and most convenient way to get to the start and back from the finish line is our race transport shuttle service. Return coach tickets are £20 and must be bought in advance. The return coach transport will depart Tórshavn in the early morning on Saturday 3rd September and drop participants off at their start locations, returning back to Tórshavn from the finish. The service will also carry participants’ bags and warm clothes to the finish. Journey time 40-50mins each way. Please do not drive to the start and/or finish locations. Both locations are very small villages with extremely limited or no parking. Please work with us in respecting the local residents space and keep traffic to a minimum.

Travel is typically the largest source of emissions from live events. We’re working with the charity ecolibrium to tackle these impacts.

We acknowledge that most of you will be travelling by plane to get to the Faroe Islands, which has a negative environmental impact and to address this we are giving you the option to do something climate positive about this impact by donating to ecolibrium’s Trees+ programme which supports tree planting, protects threatened rainforest and supports ecosystem regeneration.

As a team we have committed to making a climate positive investment to ecolibrium’s Trees+ programme to address our own flights.

You can make a climate positive investment when you buy your ticket. Simply add the optional £10 donation at checkout – you can add as many donations as you wish. If you've already bought your ticket, you can log in to your Easol account here at any point to add the donation.

ecolibrium is a live events industry response to the climate crisis – a community of events, festivals, suppliers, artists and music companies taking action to reduce travel impacts and invest in climate solutions. They provide resources, tools, advice and inspiration to reduce travel emissions and invest donations in supporting ecosystem protection, reforestation and clean energy generation. Since 2015, ecolibrium has worked with over 60 events and 40 suppliers to address the carbon emissions from over 13 million travel miles.  Visit ecolibrium’s website to find out more: www.ecolibrium.earth.
